Mengekalkan Adab Yang Mulia

Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda yang bermaksud:”Sesungguhnya Allah S.W.T sukakan bersin dan benci pada menguap. Jika salah seorang kamu bersin dan memuji Allah S.W.T, hendaklah orang Islam yang mendengarnya mengucapkan “(Yarhamukallah)”. Sedangkan menguap itu adalah daripada syaitan. Maka jika seorang kamu menguap hendaklah ia mengembalikannya (menahannya) sedapat mungkin, kerana apabila kamu menguap, syaitan akan ketawa melihatnya.”
Riwayat al-Bukhari

Huraian :
1. Islam selaku agama yang mulia amat menekankan kesopanan dan kesantunan dari sekecil-kecil perkara hinggalah sebesar-besarnya sama ada dalam pergaulan, percakapan ataupun tingkahlaku refleks seperti menguap, bersin dan sebagainya.2. Ketika menguap terdapat adabnya yang tersendiri iaitu hendaklah meletakkan tangan di mulut ketika menguap untuk menutup pandangan yang tidak elok ketika mulut terbuka dan juga untuk menghalang sesuatu daripada masuk ke dalam mulut. Selain itu kita disuruh mengurangkan bunyi ketika menguap, seboleh-bolehnya tidak kedengaran langsung.3. Manakala apabila bersin pula kita hendaklah memalingkan muka ke arah lain sambil menutup mulut dan hidung untuk mengurangkan bunyi bersin tersebut selain untuk mengelak daripada terkena jangkitan pada orang lain. Selepas bersin hendaklah mengucapkan “alhamdulillah” dan orang yang mendengarnya hendaklah mengucapkan “yarhamukallah” sebagai mendoakan kesejahteraan orang yang bersin itu serta dibalas pula oleh orang yang bersin dengan mengucapkan “Yahdiinaa wayahdiikumullah”. 4. Bersin yang terlalu kerap melebihi 3 kali menandakan seseorang itu kemungkinan diserang selsema manakala menguap yang terlampau kerap menandakan seseorang itu tidak cukup tidur selain menunjukkan ciri-ciri kemalasan yang patut dihindari dengan melakukan aktiviti senam ringan dan sebagainya.
